Regardless of your political leanings please enducate yourself for the polls. Do not just go in and mash all the red, blue or other candidates. Be thoughtful. The !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! has a good resource. Most local papers do as well.
Edit: and the follow through.

If we all did this, we would all be better off!

The hard thing is when you’re dealing with candidates who keep their mouths shut, so all you can really find are smear campaigns from competing candidates.
Yeesh.

I try to stay out of the political talks, but someone brought up a topic at home. They a sked me who I was voting for, but I wouldn’t say. They told me who they were voting for and why. The why was because they liked their commercial.......

One thing I absolutely love about Oregon is that they mail a voters guide to everyone registered to vote. It contains a little bio on all the candidates and tells you where they stand on key issues. It’s a vote by mail state, so you can take your time and do your research.
If you aren't informed, don't vote.

I second the league of women voters link, my Grandma always used to volunteer with them and it has a section of the website that walks you through your entire ballot and gives information about the candidates and proposals so you can print it out and bring it with you when you vote.

Where do I vote to make sure an old, white, crusty uncle is no longer the personification of the American government. That would probably solve a lot of our problems.

I knew a French woman once, a fellow teacher with a heavy French accent who had immigrated to the US and held full citizenship and refused to participate in elections because she thought it was all stupid and the pols were all stupid.

Same in WA. It’s the only way to go. I haven’t visited a polling station since Dubya was in office.

The League has its own agenda, but from what I have seen organizations that represent groups that have been under represented for a long time tend to do their homework better.
I also find it telling that none of the major republican candidates responded to them here in GA.

Yeah, that is probably not the best metric.

My state hasn’t figured out how to run a polling places yet. Thankfully we have mail in ballots. I also live in a district that is gerrymandered to all hell.

Not sure if better or worse than CNN.

I haven’t been since McCain/Obama. I absentee voted for years prior to moving to OR.

I just picked one. MSNBC would have been my other first choice. I’ve got no time for any of them.

MSNBC is the new extremist voice for the left side... CNN is pretty much relegated to airport TVs no one watches these days.
Network news is universally reprehensible.

I don't watch any of it, ever, unless I cannot escape it for some reason.

I’ m not sure why it isn’t a thing everywhere - maybe the west coast really is the best coast. It would cut down on a lot of the issues seen in less developed areas.
